Andrews Charitable Trust (mostly called ACT) was created in 1965 by Cecil Jackson-Cole who was a true philanthropist and entrepreneur. He saw the needs of people around him and founded many charities to answer to that need. Uniquely at the time, he ensured that charities were soundly funded and well managed. As co–founder of Oxfam, he set up the first charity shop and went on to create more than 60 charities, some of which you will recognise today, such as Action Aid and Help the Aged (now Age UK).
Today, we focus on strengthening social purpose organisations that are breaking new ground in tackling housing-related poverty and building housing opportunities in communities.
ACT's partnership with Cinnamon Network produces a powerful combination of seed funding, training and ongoing support, equipping and enabling churches to set up a tried-and-tested social action project.
