Our founder was motivated by Christian concern and love for all people so we have always put a small amount of our funds into explicitly Christian social action projects.
Today, with our focus being on tackling housing-related poverty, we look to build partnerships that encourage community action and practical help for those with experience of housing insecurity.
We also run a dedicated fund, providing small grants for packages of carefully selected books, designed to provide comfort, inspiration and shared understanding of real human experiences, written from a Christian perspective. This project is called Speaking Volumes.

Speaking VolumesWe offer grants for Christian books to any library whether it’s in a school, prison, hospice, church - anywhere really that a book can be borrowed and read by lots of people. The aim is to provide good, uplifting literature that will help someone in their moment of need.
This programme started after our founder’s first wife died and he couldn’t find any literature to help him in his moment of need. As a man of great faith, he didn’t want anyone else to suffer in the same way so ensured that books from a Christian perspective would be available to borrow, when needed.
If you are interested in a grant to purchase Christian books for a library you know of, please contact Speaking Volumes via their website.

ACT's partnership with Cinnamon Network produces a powerful combination of seed funding, training and ongoing support, equipping and enabling churches to set up a tried-and-tested social action project.
"Just a big thank you on helping with securing funding for the religious books. They are a great addition to the prison library."
