We are pleased to announce that our 8th [Establish] property, and 2nd in Oxford, is now open for residents who are young people vulnerable to homelessness. It has been declared by Andy Price - Leaving Care Personal Adviser from the Unaccompanied Children and Young Person Team at Oxford County Council to be "really the most stunning house you will ever see for young people".
ACT is very grateful for the work of Andrews branch in Botley, and especially Harry Price, Assistant Branch Manager who oversaw the purchase of the house and tenant letting. Also, to LandAid for a grant towards energy efficient heating and refurbishment. Cozy Homes were our project managers who hired amazing contractors to create a home we are proud of.
Nathan, our [Establish] ambassador greeted the two new residents. It just remains for our charity partners Oxfordshire Youth to liaise with Oxford County Council to find the right young person to fill the last vacant room. Oxfordshire Youth will continue to support the young people as they gain independence in study or work and Andrews will offer work experience and mentoring. We hope that this house will be a welcome refuge for the young people and a useful launchpad into their adult world.
