ACT shortlisted for a Charity Times Property Innovation Award

ACT has been shortlisted for a Charity Times ‘Property Innovation’ Award for the Establish Initiative.

Three years since the initiative began, we are ahead of schedule with our house purchases, having bought four houses since 2016 and providing accommodation for 11 young care leavers.

With the intention of making the transition to independence run more smoothly, the young people living in the houses are supported by our charity partners to sustain good quality accommodation, progress in their financial independence, sustain healthy relationships and manage their physical and emotional well-being before moving on to living fully independently.

The Andrews Property Group business offers their property skills to the initiative on a probono basis to source, purchase, lease and manage the houses which ACT buys.

This year an Andrews member of staff, Nathan Moore has taken on the role of ‘Establish Ambassador’ to engage staff and find opportunities for the Property Group to support the excellent work of the charity partners. Nathan, who himself was in care as a youngster has had a big impact in making the initiative accessible for staff and he has motivated staff to fundraise and give their time to volunteer.

This year ACT will be developing a framework to measure the long term impact of the initiative.

The Charity Times Awards take place in London on 2nd October.
