Andrews Charitable Trust is a Christian organisation that wants to achieve social change for faith and humanitarian reasons. We support Christian, other faith and no faith organisations' work. If you are thinking of applying to us, please read this page very carefully. If your work or situation appears to be outside our policy of funding new/step change organisations and work that is Innovative, replicable and sustainable then the Trustees will not support your application for funding.
Please also download and read the Funding Process Document, which shows in more detail the various stages involved in a funding application. On average, it takes about 8-12 months to assess, work with and make a final funding decision. We recognise that this is not a quick process, but it does afford us and you the opportunity to create a working relationship which, if we fund your organisation, will last anything from 1 to 7 years.
Don't apply if...
We can't emphasise too strongly that applications with any of the following characteristics will be REJECTED immediately.
Please do not waste your time making an application to us if any of the following apply to you.
It is the policy of ACT not to support ventures:
- of individuals seeking support for their educational expenses at any academic or vocational level
- of individuals undertaking charitable works in their own or another country on a project/'gap' year/work experience/exchange basis
- seeking a contribution or total funding to the ongoing work of the organisation
- that are about new projects as satellite aspects of the existing organisation
- that are about building or capital works
- offering what exists already in the same way and for the same beneficiaries
- led by people or teams who cannot make the vision a reality
- responding to a particular event or with a time limited span e.g. appeals
- not open to sharing learning, resources and materials with others working in that particular field
- 1that are not innovative, replicable and sustainable
Additionally, we are very unlikely to support work similar to that we have supported in the past or are now supporting. In this way we ensure that we do not specialise in one area of work and are able to better respond to emerging needs.
You should apply if...
We will be happy to consider your application if your venture:
- is new, just starting OR
- seeks to expand significantly the work and organisational ability to reach and impact with your work on a regional, national or international level
And
- involves people who have the vision, determination, and ability to make change happen
- offers real improvement or a different solution to a problem facing many disadvantaged people
- is innovative, can be replicated and become sustainable in the medium term
- the people leading it welcome management support, involvement and oversight
- can offer shared learning, resources and materials to others working in your particular field.
Please note that this is not an exhaustive list, and there is no guarantee that if you meet all these points then we will fund your venture.
If you want to learn more about the characteristics of successful ventures we have funded, read on more >
How to apply ...
We don't have an application form or pack. This website offers an explanation of what it is that we are looking to
achieve and what our policies can support.
Please apply to us with a brief summary of your proposal (maximum 3 pages) stating:
- WHAT you want to do/are doing - explain the idea/work and its value.
- WHY it should be done - the need for it and why it is innovative/better than what is currently offered.
- WHEN you will do this - what are you seeking support for, how much, over what period of time (please include both
the human and financial input you are looking for)
- WHERE you are working now/envision working if supported and how this will impact upon people/communities
- WHO you are/your organisation and its Trustees/Board and its achievements to date.
- HOW you will go about your plans and deliver
Threading through this brief summary we need to understand:
- That yours is a new/step change organisation
- That what you propose to do is innovative, replicable and sustainable.
Please e-mail your application to SPEdwards@Andrewscharitabletrust.org.uk
If you are unsure whether you should apply or, indeed, what is required to be included in the application,
then please e-mail or telephone us (no collect calls please) and we can talk through your intended application.
